Driving my son Matthew (then aged 6) to school one morning, we were stuck behind a funeral procession.

He asked me why we were going so slowly, and when I explained about the funeral he looked thoughtful.
"Dad, why do funerals go so slowly?"
"Well, that's because people are sad when someone dies, and they want to go slowly to show respect to the dead person."
More thoughtfulness.
"I'd want them to drive my coffin fast when I die."
"Actually" I said, "so would I."

When he then suggested that, when my time comes, I tell the funeral people that I want to go fast, I broke it to him as gently as possible that I might be busy being er...dead, and it would be better if he told them.
"I might be shy dad, could you write it on your hand in pen so I could show them that?"
